Hunter’s first home playdate in Singapore! It was at his little girl friend’s house; I was only there for the ride, really.

I was nervous and eager to see how he would react to seeing his first dog(s), upclose. Especially since Rosco the dog has a particularly LOUD bark! The look on Hunter’s face was priceless – this wide-eyed “Holy crap, what was that?!?!?” look, as he searched all round for the source of the ruckus ;) He took it like a champion, but did wail for a bit when Rosco barked right next to his ear behind him (as he got a rather nasty fright), but apart from that, he giggled and gurgled at the dogs :P

Doggy kisses

Dogs are highly amusing. Who knew?

The coy princess

Our lunch was a homecooked Yong Tow Foo (sp?). It was my first time eating this dish in my life, and I am a CONVERT!! In fact, I enjoyed it so much that I promptly told Chris about it, and we ordered it for the first time at the food court a couple of days later.

Hmmm how to describe it? It’s vegetarian, believe it or not. Basically tofu, tofu, and lots of tofu. Tofu of various kinds and descriptions, cooked in different ways, and served with various veggies and some noodles in a clear tasty broth. Oooooooh… it’s GOOD! OK it certainly doesn’t compare to the super-tasty Singaporean foods, but considering it’s healthy as can be, it’s very surprising that healthy food can be tasty. Me like.

Yong Tow Foo. My first time eating it, and it gets a thumbs up!

The babies played, slept, cried, ate. What else is new ;) The fab thing about home playdates is that the area is safe and clean for babies to lie down on. Plus, I had a great time trying everything out, heh! There are millions (literally) of baby stuff out there, you can spend a small fortune if you buy anything that catches your eye. The benefit of having friends with closely-aged children is that you get to check out and try a lot of stuff :)

Well hello there Missy

Trying out his new Pacimal, how cute is this concept?!

And trying out the Boppy breastfeeding pillow as a chair

And then checking out the Bjorn baby seat and lovin’ it!

But at the end of the day, his fave is still his personal, custom-built couch ;)

Hullo pretty ladies

And I saved the best set of photos for the last ;) They are most LOL-able, and I swear I’m not biased!!! Any way, I will say loudly and clearly: THESE PHOTOS ARE NOT POSED. We simply whacked our kids in the seats, and their following actions and expressions were totally impromptu and done by them….. ;)

“HEY LOOK, it’s a girl”

“Can I stroke her?”

Had a big mummy meet up with a bunch of yummy mummies in SG. It was actually much calmer than expected, considering we had 3 young babies there. Actually Hunter was the loudest because for some reason, he hated the place! Between the stuffiness/heat and the dim lighting, he was all cranky and cried. THE ENTIRE TIME. It was agony! Then, the moment we stepped outside, he stopped crying and was happy again. What the….. My ears were ringing from his crying and I nearly went insane with his fussing.. so just as well he calmed down before we all went shopping, heh ;)

Anyway, we ate at a “gourmet British pub” called The Queen & Mangosteen. And so I ordered, what else? the Fish and Chips!! How can I go to a Brit pub and not order fish & chips? ;) They were excellent. Lovely meaty fish encased in a thick but well-cooked batter. I adored the dip that it came with, and the dish is enough for a light lunch.

It’s a lovely pub but needs to seriously re-think their air conditioning. The heat in there is awful in certain spots, so everyone else at the table was fine, but I had full-blast of the hot air blowing in. It would otherwise have been a lovely relaxed lunch with the girls!

(Note: some pics stolen ruthlessly from the girls :P )

Stroller brigade! Hunter’s is the poor manual kind ;)

The Queen and Mangosteen, a gourmet British pub

My Pimms & Lemonade – delish

Potato & Leek soup, “not good”, apparently

Mini burgers that looked cute, but had no cheese!

My fish & chips. Excellent

This is what Hunter looked like the entire lunch

Cam-whoring in the baby change room

Complete LMAO!!! at little N’s expression… cannot.. stopppp.. laughing……

A more normal shot of everyone ;)

“Well HELLOOO there pretty girl”

“Tee hee hee!”

“Hullo ladies. Wanna see some of this? Do ya??”

Everything With Fries
40 Lorong Mambong

Just the mere name Everything With Fries has me in a quiver… considering it’s my #1 favourite food. And so I was a little (*ahem*) delighted when I heard there is a place called that, in Holland Village. So of course I had to go there, and what better than on a playdate? It was with some online girl friends that I’d known for awhile but never met in real life before, and our kids are around the same age, so it was fun to meet up :)

The restaurant is quite open concept and all about sleek white chairs and tables. The staff were really nice and let us, errr, redecorate the area whilst we moved chairs and tables to accommodate us ;) It was all a bit chaotic and so I… errrr.. forgot to take photos of most of the food! Didn’t even get a chance to take nice pics of the 3 of us + kids.. argh. I was also a bit frazzled when Hunter had a 20-min meltdown (it doesn’t sound like a lot, but it sure feels like a century when you’re sitting there having to listen to it and calm him down), so all thoughts of photo-taking kind of flew out of my mind.

Spot the 2 babies ;)

Super ugly photo of Hunter, LOL!

A shame I forgot pics, because I really enjoyed the food! My chargrilled char siew roulade with garlic sauce was freakin’ FANTASTIC. Next time I’d order it again in an instant. It was like a thick meaty version of the pork you get in Japanese ramen, or a bit like ultra-tender slow-cooked pork belly. Unbelievably tender, so full of flavour, and just plain ‘ol delicious. It was served with, what else? FRIES! I got mine with sour cream and onion seasoning and it was delish – not too overly done.

The Nutella Tart was apparently a must-order, so of course we tried it out. It was actually a very simple dish, a sort of gelatinous smooth tart with texture of a firm pudding. It had a lovely chocolate/nutella flavour and the Oreo cookie base was super. Only gripe? It should’ve come with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Also BIG THANKS to Julyclover who helped me order these adorable goodies from!

The development of a baby laugh. Of course, this was after his
mini melt-down and nap, so he was cheery as anything!

Cuddle time now?
